2010 Primary Endorsements:

Lehe has shown concern for Lake County issues, not just for the vast areas of his district south of the Kankakee River.

We endorse Lehe.

2008 General Endorsements:

Sutton is hard to pin down on specifics, though. He wants "fair and consistent" taxes, but he's unsure of whether he'd vote for a constitutional amendment to lock in the property tax caps.

Republican Don Lehe, the incumbent, wants to give voters a choice on the Kernan-Shepard recommendations. He supports the constitutional amendment that would lock in the property tax caps.

We endorse Lehe.

Your pro-business views and agenda are deserving of our endorsement and I hope it will aid in your victory.

It is apparent that your re-election to the House representing Benton, Newton, Lake and White Counties is of the utmost importance to the economic climate of your district and that job creation will prosper the most under your leadership.

Once again, you have a 97 percent IMA voting record – just as you have had in every session you’ve served.

If Indiana is to prosper and grow economically, it is certain that we need you representing House District 15 to help make that happen.

We recommend to every voter in the Republican primary in House District 15 that they vote for you. We encourage every business person in House District 15 to do everything within their power, to influence every vote they can and publicly support your candidacy to ensure your re-election.

EDITORIAL: Our picks in Indiana House races
Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Northwest Indiana has many Indiana House districts, and a number of them have contested races in Tuesday's primary.

Among the essential qualities of a state representative are looking out for the needs not only of the district but also the region and the state....

District 15 Republicans

Lon Childress is president of the Tri-Creek School Board. He makes some good points about development in southern Lake County, but we disagree with him on the need to keep townships. It's time to reinvent local government, not keep archaic systems.

Rich Niemeyer is reluctant to make bold moves to restructure local government.

Incumbent Don Lehe isn't as aggressive as we would like on local government reform, but he's more amenable to change than his opponents. He at least wants to give counties the option to hold a referendum on whether to replace the three commissioners with a single county executive.

We endorse Lehe.
